Wet iPhone? What to do in the first minutes

The first decisions matter. No universal trick repairs every wet phone, but safe steps can reduce the risk.

Disconnect it and do not charge

Remove the cable from both iPhone and adapter. Do not reconnect accessories until the phone and cable are completely dry. Charging through a wet connector can damage pins and cause corrosion.

Keep the connector down and allow airflow

Gently tap the phone with the Lightning or USB-C connector facing down, then leave it in a dry place with airflow. If a liquid warning appears, wait at least 30 minutes before trying again; complete drying can take up to 24 hours.

No heat, compressed air or rice

Do not use a hair dryer, compressed air, cotton swabs or paper in the port. Do not put the phone in rice. If charging or sound does not recover after drying, request an assessment.
